As a matter of interest...

As a matter of interest, with regard to the repeated comments of the US coin dealers about Italy and other countries not doing enough (in their opinion) to look after their ancient heritage, how much does the United States of America budget annually for direct spending on the preservation of the country's cultural heritage? Since there is no single dedicated national service for the purpose, is the answer in fact "nothing"?
